Today Matthew is one

I started this blog in Matthew’s memory, and I continue to write it in his honor, so I feel I must post something on his first birthday, but to post much of anything feels disingenuous, because my heart is so heavy, and I lack the words at the moment.

Mark and I took the day off, so we’ll do some things to remember Matthew and reflect on our time with him, this day last year, and the twelve months that followed.

I’m sure I’ll come up with lots of words later, but for now, it seems, all I can say is…

We love him. We love him. We love him.

We miss him. We miss him. We miss him.

Over and over again.

Thank you to everyone who has commented, emailed, texted, called, sent a card, and/or is holding space in their heart for Matthew today. ❤

  1. Thinking of your family, and especially precious Matthew today. I know he is so proud of how you’re helping so many people with your blog. I am literally reading from the beginning (again) b/c you capture how we all feel so well. Big hugs!

  2. Holding Matthew, Mark and you in my heart today. I love you and I miss you are often the only words I can put together when my heart is overwhelmed by missing Jackson. ❤

  5. I know my pain doesn’t even compare, I miscarried our first at 14 weeks, having heard his/her heartbeat at 10 weeks. My due date was June 26th , and when that day came, I was so heavy with grief and just sad. Wishing you the next year full of blessings!
